Marie Stanley, 69, of Lynchburg, VA, died Sunday, December 22, 2024 after a traumatic battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Michael Stanley; her son, Derrick Austin and his husband Dusten; her step-son, Matthew Stanley and his partner Emily Tomlin; her oldest sister, Barbara Mann and her husband Kenneth.
Her closest nieces and nephews mourn her greatly. Debbie McCormick and partner Steve, Donna Elder and husband Kenneth, Ken Mann, Jr, Randy Tallent and partner Debbie, Wayne Tallent and wife Tanya, and Bobby Burnley; her special cousin, Sandra Pool and her husband Steve; and many other family members who were near and dear to her.
Marie is preceded in death by her adoring parents, Hollis and Virginia Marshall. and her second oldest sister, Virginia (Jo) Tallent.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
