Laverne Templeton, 92, of
Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most.
Laverne was born on July 15, 1933, in Vanzant, Oklahoma, to Doy Roscoe Seaton and Gladys May (Sikes) Seaton. She graduated from Crooked Oaks High School and went on to build a life centered on family, hard work, and community.
On November 5, 1954, she married the love of her life, Bobby Joe Templeton. Together, they shared many years of marriage and, in 1977, owned and operated Templeton's Refrigeration and Appliance Repair, a business well known in the community.
Laverne found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved going to garage sales and auctions, reading a good book, and baking for those she loved. She was especially known for her delicious chocolate pie and blackberry cobbler. No matter the season, she never passed up a bowl of ice cream-even in the winter.
Her faith and love for young people were evident through her volunteer work at church, where she helped with 5th Quarter after football games, always supporting and encouraging the youth of her community. Laverne also cherished time spent with her close friends and "running buddies," Helen Oxley and Judy Kieffer, who seemed to know everything happening in their small town. She was a proud member of Tecumseh Pentecostal Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Templeton; her brother, Kenneth Seaton; and her nephew, Michael Degarmo.
Laverne leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Johnny Geyer of
Tecumseh, Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dawn Templeton of Bethel Acres; sister, Shirley Crocker of Newalla, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Paige and Darrell Wilborn, Mandy and Ezekiel Duran, and Andrew and Lacy Geyer; great-grandchildren, Baylee Harris, Bayler Fowler, Brant Fowler, Ezekiel Duran, Trinity Duran, Christian Duran, Elijah Geyer, Johnathan Geyer, Hadlee Geyer, and Tobias Geyer; great-great-grandchildren, Preslie Lester, Monroe Lester, Everett Harris, and Bayler Fowler Jr.
Laverne will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
