Marie Veno, age 90, of Westport, the beloved wife of the late Andrew Veno Sr., passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Saverio and Agnes (Bonsdale) Marchese. She grew up in Norwalk and spent the remainder of her years in Westport, following her marriage to Andy.
Marie was one of the founding members of St. Luke Church in Westport, where she spent many hours volunteering. While raising her family, she worked for Westport Public Schools in the cafeteria, feeding her many "children". Proud of her big Italian family, she was a wonderful cook and made the world's best eggplant parmigiana and pizzelle cookies. Some of her greatest joys came from family gatherings, for which she would prepare food for days in advance.
Marie is survived by her sisters, Mildred Holquist and Evelyn Stabell. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved and cared for throughout her lifetime. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her three children, Agnes, Andy Jr. and Jo-Ann; as well as her brother, Joe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North in Westport. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
