Marie Ann Wregglesworth, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the
age of 89. Born on January 8, 1936, in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Marie departed this world in St. Joseph,
Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of gentleness and generosity that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Marie was the loving daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Meyer) Tropp. Her journey through
life was one of compassion and care, a path she walked hand in hand with her late husband, Duane E.
Wregglesworth. Together, they raised a family that would grow to include children, grandchildren, and even
great-grandchildren. She was a nurturing mother, not only to her own children but to all who came into her
world.
Though she faced the loss of her daughter Laurie Klutz, her brother Richard Tropp, and sisters Patricia Smith
and Wanda Wood, Marie's strength never wavered. Her love continued to extend to her surviving sons, Michael
(Ginger), Russell, and Norman (Claudette) Wregglesworth, and her son-in-law, Keith Klutz. Marie Ann was a
cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren, a great-grandmother to fifteen, and a great-great-grandmother
to one.
Marie's brothers and sisters held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her brother, Robert Tropp Jr. of
Buchanan, her sister, Joyce Smallidge of Schoolcraft, and her brother-in-law, William Wood of Baroda. Each
family gathering was a testament to the warmth and unity she fostered within her family.
A proud graduate of Berrien Springs High School, Marie dedicated most of her life to her family as a
homemaker. Her hands were rarely still, as she taught knitting to young minds in 4-H for many years. Marie's
Christmas cookies were legendary. Her love for nurturing extended to the earth, as she worked diligently on
the family farm, growing strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Marie also canned everything from the
garden and fruit trees to provide for family meals.
Marie's zest for life was reflected in her diverse interests. She was an enthusiastic fan of women's college
basketball, following the NCAA tournaments with keen interest. Her spirited nature even led her to a
memorable appearance on the 1960s show "I've Got A Secret," a delightful anecdote she enjoyed sharing with
her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marie's memory to the
Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave.
