Marilyn Ayers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes in the Palmer Community Complex - Lakeville Chapel on Jun. 18, 2025.
Marilyn R. Ayers (Bachtel), age 83, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday June 14, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 23, 1942, in Plymouth, IN. Marilyn was the daughter of John and Alma (Baughman) Bachtel. Marilyn graduated from Lapaz High School with the class of 1960.
Wayne and Marilyn were married on August 27, 1960, in Plymouth, IN. They shared just short of 65 years of marriage. They were childhood sweethearts for many years before marriage. She worked for 35+ years at the Union North School Corporation before retiring.
Marilyn was a member of Pine Creed Church and very active with functions held there. Whether it was Bible school, fish fries, or dinners, she was always there. She was the best wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend you could ask for. She was the #1 fan of her grandkids and great grandkids. Most importantly, she loved Jesus with all her heart and sought out her savior in everything she did.
Marilyn loved to get together with her family for holidays, birthdays, or any occasion just to be together. She loved to cook and bake and was the best at it. Her specialty was banana cake with peanut butter frosting and homemade chicken pot pie.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Plymouth, children Sheri (Ron) Holderman of Bremen and Wayne Jr. (Bud) Ayers of Plymouth as well as her grandchildren; Jared Holderman, Jacob Holderman, and Jordyn(Adam) Kraning, great-grandchildren Levi, Ava, Carter, Asher, Anna, Alaya, Alivia, Noah, Miah, and Easton, as well as her siblings; Dorothy Spier and David (Marge) Bachtel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald, Harold, and Carl Bachtel, and her sisters; Norma Bachtel, Esther Kovatch, Glenna Disher, Margaret Smith, and Sharon Scott.
Palmer Funeral Homes-Lakeville Chapel is entrusted with cremation, with family holding a celebration of life for family and friends to be announced at a later time.
