Marilyn Lucy Danner

Marilyn Lucy Danner (aka Big Kahuna), age 85, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted dog, Charlie.

Born on July 19, 1940, in Chicago, Marilyn was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. Her life was defined by love, laughter, and the joy she brought to those around her, though she did have a knack for being direct.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norville Lee Danner, and is survived by her four children: Todd Danner, Susan Danner, Theresa Dielmann (Jeff), and Mark Danner (Heather). Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren Todd Jr., Lisa Vasquez (Esto), Julie Gubatina (Ben), Kaitlin O’Connor, Kevin O’Connor, Audrey Danner, Kelsey Danner, Cole Danner, Mark Jacob Danner, and Lucas Danner and, also her three great-grandchildren, with a fourth great-grandson soon to arrive.

She treasured time spent with family and friends whether gathered for competitive domino nights, playing Rummikub, traveling the world, or sharing heartfelt conversations filled with laughter. Her constant companion, Charlie, was always by her side, bringing her comfort and joy.

Marilyn will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private burial service will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at www.komen.org.
