Marilyn Floersheim Obituary

Visit the Daniels Family Funeral Services - Wyoming Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Marilyn “Lynn” (Heffernan) Floersheim was born in Buffalo, NY in 1933 and passed away on November 4, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. In between that time, Lynn was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, volunteer, and good friend. She is survived by her son Scott and his wife Jean and their daughter Kate and by her daughter-in-law Beth (Kurt) and their daughter Erin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband Carl Floersheim Jr, their sons Kurt and Mark; her siblings, and her parents Vera and Lawrence Heffernan.

Lynn was the youngest of five children — Dot, Bill, Bob, Don, and Lynn. Lynn was always very close with her sister, Dot, who was 8 years older than Lynn. When Lynn was a senior in high school, she moved from Buffalo to Raton, NM, where Dot and Dot’s husband, Dr. Milton “Mick” Floersheim, provided her with a home and with support for her schooling. In 1951, Lynn graduated from Raton High School and went on to study nursing at Beth-El School of Nursing of Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO, where she earned a nursing degree and where she was also the President of the Class of 1954.

Dot and Mick introduced Lynn to Mick’s first cousin, Carl Floersheim Jr, whom Lynn would eventually marry in 1954. Lynn and Carl were married for over 56 years, until Carl’s death in 2011. They had three sons — Kurt, Mark, and Scott. While raising their three boys in Springer, NM, Carl ran his family’s general store, the Floersheim Mercantile, and Lynn worked as a nurse at the health center in Springer.

In 1970, the family moved to Albuquerque, where Lynn worked as a nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for over a decade and then worked at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital before retiring in the mid 1990s. All totaled, Lynn worked as a Registered Nurse for 43 years.

Lynn was a devoted mother and grandmother. She made friends easily wherever she went. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing card games, especially bridge, and enjoyed playing dominos in her later years. She was a fan of UNM Lobo basketball and watched most of the games on TV or listened to them on the radio.

Lynn will be interred with Carl at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in the Summer of 2026. Memorial contributions may be made to food banks or animal welfare organizations. Please visit our online guest book for Lynn at Daniels Family Funeral Services.
