Marilyn Hauselman, née Starr, 93, beloved wife of the late Sheldon; loving mother of Caryn (Howard) Meyer, Lynda (Adam) Kruse and Ellyn (Gary) Podolsky; adored grandmother ("Grandma Mare", "Momo") of Samantha (Avi), Brad (Abigail), Matthew, Abbey, Will and Joey; great grandmother of Quinn and Stella; dear sister of Rochelle Kornick and sister-in-law of Martin (late Lois) Hauselman. Marilyn worked at Sigma Chi Fraternity International Headquarters for 27 years and retired when she was 87 years old. The friendships and memories she made there were a great source of happiness and pride for her. Marilyn was very generous to the people that meant the most to her. She loved to search out and give the perfect gifts. She had many interests, including traveling the world, exploring art museums, attending musical theater, collecting exquisite and unique jewelry and antiques ("treasures"), and spending time with her family and friends. She was a talented artist who could draw or paint a beautiful portrait or landscape in no time. She loved animals and spent time outside almost daily, singing back and forth to the birds that visited her yard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Lotus Center, whose mission is to make nature accessible to people with profound life challenges (including memory loss), in a caring, accepting, and inspiring 64-acre day-retreat setting. https://www.thebluelotuscenter.org/donate-now. Chapel service, Thursday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
