Marilyn Louise Smith Held, 89, of Elmira NY passed on December 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years George Held in 2021, by her parents, Winifred and Gordon Smith, and by all her siblings. Honoring her memory are her six children and their spouses: Pamela and Pete Rockett of Atlanta, GA, Robert and Mary Held of Elmira, Pat and Frank Rugiero of Elmira, Don Held of Dansville, Kathy and Tony Rivera of Oskaloosa, IA, and Darrell and Tina Held of Elmira. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was a member of Christian Faith Fellowship Church, serving as a deaconess and in other roles. She attended high school in Elmira Heights and worked for many decades at Fairway Spring Company. She had been living with her devoted daughter and son-in-law Pat and Frank Rugiero for the past two years.
Marilyn wished to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Christian Faith Fellowship on Monday, December 23, 2024 with visitation at 4 PM and the service at 5 PM.
