Marilyn J. Hilty (née Miller), 91, of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 24, 1934, in Salem, Ohio, graduated from Wittenberg University before becoming a long-time resident of Elyria, Ohio and spending her last 12 years as a Vermilion resident.
Marilyn worked as a preschool teacher in Massillon, Ohio and later as a clerk for 20 years in the shipping and receiving department at Ridge Tool in Elyria.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and then Emmanuel Lutheran Church, both of Elyria, OH. Marilyn cherished time spent with family and friends. She loved following sports and found joy in the simple, meaningful moments shared with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Todd (Katie) Hilty, Brenda (Jack) Lewis, and Karen (Roy) Folley; her grandchildren, Erin Douglass, Kevin Douglass, Holly Hilty, Garrett Hilty, Grace Collins, Roy “Logan” Folley, and William Folley; one great grandson, Liam Sepeda; and her brother, Jerry (Margaret) Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Duber and Ida (née Holdereith) Miller, and her brother, Richard Miller.
Private family services were held.
Charitable gifts can be made in memory of Marilyn and on behalf of her beloved cat, Scarlett, to a local animal shelter.
