Marilyn J. Janka, 79, of La Salle, passed away peacefully at her home on February 26, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday in St. Hyacinth's Church in La Salle with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle and 10:00 AM Saturday until time of services in the church.
Mrs. Janka was born on November 4, 1944 to Herman and Mary (Horak) Gabriel. She married Clyde Lipka on June 23, 1966 and he died on December 28, 1998. She then married Dave Frank Janka on October 6, 2000.
Marilyn retired from Sundstrand when the plant closed. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening, traveling, cooking, baking, snowmobiling, fishing and going to Island Lake in Spooner, WI. She loved her annual trips to the Wisconsin State Fair. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and member of St. Hyacinth's Church.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Dave of La Salle; four children, Michelle Hanson of Ottawa, Marilyn Lipka of Ottawa, Robert Lipka of Peru and Jennifer Burks of Peru; five step-children, Daniel Janka of Cincinnati, OH, Dale (Lisa) Janka of La Salle, Doug (Judy) Janka of Cincinnati, OH, Deanna Ritter of Loveland,OH, and Dr. Jaci (Dr. Shaya) Mokfi of Grainger, IN; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and twelve step-grandchildren and one sister Marjorie Hancock of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Clyde.
