Marilyn J. Lemon, 84, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away at 4:15 pm on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at home with family by her side. Born February 25, 1941, in Whitley County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Paul and Florence (Trachsel) Metzger.
She graduated from Larwill High School and was the valedictorian of the Class of 1959. On May 2, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack E. Lemon. In 1966, they moved to the family farm where she and Jack raised their kids. In 2000, Marilyn and Jack moved to their retirement home at Big Cedar Lake.
Marilyn worked as a teacher's aide for the Whitley County Consolidated Schools for 34 years, that included Etna-Troy, Marshall, Indian Springs, and Coesse. She was known as the "Patient Pill Lady". Marilyn was loved by many students and staff over her many years of service. Marilyn enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She also sold Mary Kay for several years.
Survivors include her children, Julie Copeland, Jeff Lemon, John (Tina) Lemon, and Jeanne (Gary) Young; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and Baby Jack on the way; brothers Norman Metzger and Tom (Peggy) Metzger.
She was preceded in death by her father Paul Metzger, mother Florence Faurote, husband Jack Lemon, son-in-law, Gary Copeland, and great granddaughter, Molly Minear. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling three hours prior to service.
Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Marilyn to Tri Lakes Fireworks Fund.
