Marilyn (Cornelissen) Mashl, age 82 of De Pere passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025 with her family by her side after a 25+ year battle with COPD. Marilyn was born April 30, 1943 the second oldest of eight children to the late Cecilia Cornelissen. On August 17, 1959, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Mashl and they enjoyed 52 years together until Dan's passing in 2012.
Marilyn was the proud mother of four boys, loving Nana of 12 and great-grandmother/Nana of 11 (and another on the way). Marilyn loved her family dearly and always made them a priority. She looked forward to every family event, seeing her children and spending time playing with the grandkids or just visiting with her siblings she helped raise and their loving families.
Marilyn worked at various companies throughout the years including the 41 Truck Plaza (back when a hamburger with lettuce and tomato cost $.50), Fort Howard Paper Company(now Georgia Pacific), American Medical Security (now UnitedHealthcare) and Lamers Bus Company (she was known to pull the bus over a few times) but was most proud of her community service. She was the director of the De Pere SHARE food program when it first launched in 1992 and awarded the "caring and sharing" award at the group's annual meeting in 1993.
Marilyn was co-founder of De Pere Christian Outreach (DPCO) thrift store and had a vision for the organization to help those in need. And wow, it exceeded her vision helping so many people in the community and is still going strong today. Marilyn spent several years as a member of the Board of Directors and volunteering her time. She loved to shop at DPCO and spoke proudly of her "new found treasures" after scoring great "deals". Anytime someone talked about DPCO, Marilyn's eyes would light up and a smile would be on her face. Oh how she loved that place!
Marilyn had a zest for life, a loving heart and incredible compassion for people. Marilyn loved helping people and spent countless hours knitting hats, scarves, baby sweaters and baby blankets that were donated to local schools, hospitals and charities or gifts to her children, grandchildren and veterans. She also spun her magic creating hanging towels, dishcloths, hot pads and Afghan's that are used or displayed in homes of family members and friends today. Marilyn was always up for a good game of cards, dominoes or putting together puzzles with friends and family or a good debate about politicians, especially ones she didn't like. Marilyn was committed to her Catholic faith watching mass on TV when she could no longer attend in person and praying the rosary every day. Whenever someone was sick or struggling in life, she always made sure to say a prayer for them. Marilyn's deep faith sustained her thru challenging times and most recently with her declining health.
Surviving Marilyn are three sons: Steve (Janet), Mike (Angel) and David. Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren: Stephanie Mashl, Brett & Megan Mashl(Hallie), Destinee Mashl & Fiancé Gage Seehafer, Alexis & Jacob Stroik, Hunter Mashl, Andy & Jessy Gay(Alayna & Adeline), Veronica & Doug Bast(Colton, Samuel & Weston), Allysia & Kyle Schneeberger(Lucy, Bradley, Jack and baby due January 2026), Matthew Mashl & Fiancee' Olivia Montie, Jordan & Arymus Rogers(Elrik & Winry) and Jake Mashl.
