Marilyn Dorothy Maze

Marilyn Dorothy (Rode) Maze, 82, passed away on December 16, 2018. She was born to Clarence and Dorothy Rode on September 24, 1936 and married Maurice Maze on December 29, 1957, celebrating 60 years of marriage last year. She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1954, and received her RN from Methodist Hospital in 1958. She worked a variety of jobs as a nurse, starting at St Francis Hospital, and ending at Visiting Nurse Service. In her 40's she decided to take the training to become an Emergency Medical Technician and used this skill by volunteering for the Wanamaker Fire Department. She received her 25-year pin from the Fire Department at the same time that Maurice received his 50 year pin. In retirement, she and Maurice became snowbirds, living their winters and volunteering at Everglades National Park. She was a charter member of Franklin Central Christian Church, and sang in the church choir for many years there. She and Maurice loved to travel and visited 55 different countries. She is preceded in death by her brother Richard Rode. She is survived by her husband Maurice, three children – Ken (Roxanne) Maze, Gary (Shelley) Maze and Karen (Andy) Whitehurst, and five grandchildren – Samuel Maze, Emma Maze, Jeffrey, Bradley, and Lily Whitehurst. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 20 from 4-8 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 5950 Thompson Road, and on Friday, December 21 from 10-11 at Franklin Central Christian Church. Funeral will be Friday at Franklin Central Christian Church at 11 AM. Memorial contributions toward the Franklin Central Christian Church will be accepted.
