Archer Funeral HomeMarilyn Kay Stanford McCowen was born in Seymour, Texas to Arley and Olene Stanford on January 15, 1948.
Kay was a member of the class of 1966 of Seymour High School, and she attended Stephen F. Austin University.
She married Melton McCowen on August 11, 1973, and together they raised four boys.
Over the course of her life Kay held many titles to include seamstress, secretary, office manager, and county tax assessor, but her passion was all sorts of arts and crafts; a master at embroidery. She had a warm, outgoing nature and effortlessly formed friendships wherever life took her. Above all she loved her family and her dog Freddie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Olene Stanford, and her husband Melton McCowen.
Kay passed from this earth on November 14th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones in Fort Worth, Texas to join her family and friends in heaven.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Tim Wright officiating in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
She is survived by her four sons: Mike and wife Deana McCowen of Arapaho, OK; Wayne and wife Ashley McCowen of Weatherford, TX; Shawn and wife Cathy Studer of Fort Worth, TX; and Wade and wife Whitney McCowen of Nocona, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and life-long best friends Lyn and Tim Wright of Coolidge, AZ.
