Mrs. Marilyn Neill Vaughn, age 80, of the Caney Spring community, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 17, 1944, Marilyn lived a life of service and taking care of others. She attended Forrest School, studied Nutrition and Food Service at Penn State, and then worked as a healthcare dietitian in Marshall, Maury, and Lincoln counties for over 40 years, garnering the award of NHC Dietary Manager of the Year for the South Central Region in 1986-87.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Bivens Ogilvie Neill and Sara James Allen Neill, a son, Ben Vaughn, and sister, Eddie Frances Kilpatrick.
She loved painting, gardening, and activities with her church, Caney Spring United Methodist Church, but was happiest when cooking for and spending time with her family, which was her pride and joy.
She will forever be missed by her husband of 65 years, Billy Vaughn of the Caney Spring Community; son, Bill (Pam) Vaughn of Eagleville, TN, and daughter, Mary Neill Ghee, also of Eagleville; grandchildren, Will (KaSondra) Vaughn, Benjamin (Summer) Vaughn, Rachael Stuard, Liz (T.J. Unger), Matt (Julianna) Vaughn, Ashton (Bradley) McCann, and Ryan (Kristen) Ghee; great-grandchildren Morgan (Jackson) Perryman Coward, Parker Stuard, Adi Stuard, Gracie Hancock, Macie Hancock, Colt Vaughn, Jackson Vaughn, Weston Vaughn, Hallie Vaughn, Lynnie Kate McCann, Ellie Jane McCann, John Hendrix McCann, Ruby Vaughn, Ada Vaughn, and Murdock Vaughn; great-great grandchildren Kyler Coward, Cortland Stuard, and Karsyn Stuard; sister, Ludell Coffey; brother Oscar Neill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Visitation with the family will be conducted from 4 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with friend and Rev. Tim Holton officiating. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in the Caney Spring Community in Marshall County, TN.
Pallbearers will be Will Vaughn, Ben Vaughn, Matt Vaughn, Ryan Ghee, Bradley McCann, T.J. Unger, Duane Floyd, and Deron Myers.
For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Allen Cemetery or Caney Spring United Methodist Church.
