It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marilyn Dates Pasley, who passed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 93 in Culpeper, VA.
She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She was a devoted member of the community, and someone who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on June 3rd, 1932, in Red Creek, New York, Marilyn was the daughter of Clarence Dates and Cora Richardson Dates. She grew up in Red Creek, NY, and graduated from Red Creek High School where she played sports and was a cheerleader. She furthered her education as a dental hygienist and worked in the public schools in Red Creek. Helping others was her passion and so she went back to college in her 50's and earned her master's in clinical social work. Marilyn's dedication and kindness left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. She retired from Arlington County at the age of 83.
Marilyn is survived by her son, R. Lee Pasley, Jr and his wife Lori; her daughter, Margy and her husband Mike; and stepdaughter Jayne Young and husband Joseph. She has 9 grandchildren – Amanda Pasley, Chelsie McIlvaine, Sarah Early, Mike Jr, Aubrey, Bailey, Joseph Young, Chris Young, and Ryan Young, and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents Clarence and Cora Dates; her siblings Marge Wilson, Bob Dates, and Dorothy Welch; and many more family members.
A graveside service will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Quantico National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the remarkable life of Marilyn D. Pasley at 16377 Stevensburg Road, Brandy Station, VA 22714.
Marilyn will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
