Marilyn Pennywell, 86, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born June 26, 1939, in Arkansas to Rebecca and Masker Clemons, she grew up in Arkansas, later lived in Chicago, and made Saginaw her lifelong home.
Marilyn was the proud mother of five children: Denise (John) Hudson, Alonzo Bowman-El, Mark Stanley Bowman-El, Lamar Bowman (deceased), and John Bowman. She is survived by four of her children, her siblings Emma Holmes, Masker (Lois) Clemons, Washington (Ruby) Clemons, Margaret Franklin, Charles (Barbara) Clemons, Rosetta Clemons, Jerry Clemons, and Mattie Clemons, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Lamar, brothers Andrew, Jerome, and John Ellis Clemons, special aunts, nephew Xaviere Raphael Clemons, and grandson Elijah Bowman.
Marilyn dedicated her life to education and caregiving, serving as both an educator and home care worker, while also fostering children and touching countless lives with her love and service.
