Marilyn Louise Preston

Marilyn Louise Preston, age 92 of Horseheads, NY died on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born on September 24, 1932 in Painted Post, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis, Sr. and Carrie (Russell) Preston. Marilyn worked at the Baron of Steuben, Lodge on the Green and later for the United Way in Corning.
Marilyn was active in her community. She was a driver for Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels and was a lifetime member of the South Corning Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and worked as a secretary. She was also a 30 year member of the South Corning Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and served as their secretary. When she wasn't serving members of her church and community, she was serving her family. For many years she babysat her many nieces and nephews. As they got older, Marilyn enjoyed running the roads with her nieces, Shirley Burgess, Judy Jones and Linda Phelps, alongside her chauffer, Dale Phelps. In her down time, Marilyn loved working on ceramics, knitting and reading books with her beloved cats by her side. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her loving nieces: Linda (Dale) Phelps of Horseheads, NY and Judy Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her sisters: Wanda Kelly, Eleanor German, Ruth Dyer and Irene Hultz; brothers: Louis, Waldo and Robert Preston; and niece, Shirley Burgess.
Marilyn requested no services. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home,17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with her care.
