Marilyn Mae Schoeneman of Alliance passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Highland Park Care Center at the age of 88.

She was born on December 3, 1936 in Minatare, NE to Dave and Edna (Bauer) Schnell.

She was united in marriage to Gene J. Schoeneman on October 4, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alliance.

Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family deeply. She enjoyed gardening and canning and was an excellent cook. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, making her home a welcoming place for friends and family. Along with Gene they enjoyed traveling to the West Coast, Yellowstone and Southern states.

Marilyn was a woman of faith who had the gifts of mercy and service which were evident in her daily life and gentle spirit. She consistently lived out her faith in tangible ways and touched many people.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Keith (Teresa) Schoeneman and Scott (Cindy) Schoeneman of Alliance and Janet (Craig) Workman of Lincoln, her grandchildren, Sarah Bannan and Trent (Gina) Bannan, Rachel Schoeneman, Anna Schoeneman, Seth (Kaylie) Schoeneman, Renata (Darvont'e) Knight, Evan (Brionna) Schoeneman, Miranda Workman, Makenzie Workman and Grant Workman, and her great-grandchildren, Ross Boyd, Reed Boyd, Mia Bannan, Gavin Bannan, Raval Knight and Ryder Schoeneman. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Galyen of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her daughter, Debra Lynn Bannan, her parents, her sister, Shirley Varilek and her brother, Jerry Schnell.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Alliance with Pastor Art Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. with family present from 3-5 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to: Highland Park Memory Care Unit, Gideons International or the Evangelical Free Church. Marilyn's family would also like to extend a tremendous thank you to the Highland Park Memory Care Unit for their exceptional care and loving support.
