Ms. Shirley, 75, of the Whynot Community, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Wisteria Manor Assisted Living following an extended illness. Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and love. Known for her Christian faith and generous heart, Marilyn found happiness in the simple pleasures of life.
Marilyn was a devout Christian who spent many years playing the piano and organ, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving in her church in various other capacities. A passionate cook, Marilyn delighted in preparing meals that brought family together around the table. She loved to sew and crochet, creating homemade treasures that reflected her care and attention to detail. Marilyn also enjoyed volunteering at The Riley Center and Deville Manor.
Marilyn derived great joy in time spent with her grandchildren, especially those tender years before daycare began. She cherished every moment of nurturing, playing, and watching them grow, leaving lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
Ms. Marilyn is survived by her son, Jeff Davis (Donna); grandchildren, Lane Davis and Chloe Davis; her siblings, Donald Shirley (Sandra), Linda Miller (Joe), and Terry Shirley (Cindy), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ms. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Odis and Jewel Shirley; her son, Patrick Lamar Davis; and her husbands, Lonnie Cooper and Buddy Garrison.
Pallbearers will be Ray Shirley, Billy Shirley, Grant Goodman, Dunnam Shirley, Kenneth Ray Butler, and Ricky Roy Shirley.
