Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greely Funeral Home on Nov. 25, 2025.
Marilyn J. (Lattof) Sweet, 82, beloved wife of Ralph G. Sweet of Rockport, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 23, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 13, 1943, to the late Albert and Dorothy (Newman) Lattof, Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Rockport. She attended and graduated from Rockport Public Schools. Following graduation, she married her longtime sweetheart, Ralph, on February 4, 1962, at St. Joachim Church. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage and created a legacy and home filled with love, friendship, and joy.
In 1988, Marilyn and Ralph re-opened her family's cherished roadside farmstand, the iconic Lattof Farm. From that time through today, she became widely known throughout Rockport, Cape Ann, and beyond for her famous Anadama Bread. Whether you knew her personally, enjoyed her breads at your family table, or decorated your home with wreaths adorned by her handmade bows, Marilyn had a gift for touching lives in the simplest and most meaningful ways.
Marilyn made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Whether you knew her for a short time or a lifetime, Marilyn made everyone feel like family. She greeted all with a warm smile and her signature, heartfelt "Hi Honey!"
The greatest legacy Marilyn leaves behind is her family-her joy, pride, and purpose. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She embraced her role as matriarch with devotion, and the bonds she created made her a second mother to so many. Even in her later years, she continued to check in on friends and loved ones. If you needed something, Marilyn was the one you called. Her selfless, nurturing nature made her truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband Ralph, Marilyn is survived by her three loving children: Kenneth Sweet and wife Courtney, Albert Sweet and wife Patty, and Chrissy Sweet and husband Patrick Andrus, all of Rockport. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jaimie Rose and husband Ryan, Katie Sweet and husband Alex, Matthew Sweet and wife Lauren, Haley Curley and husband Scotty, Garin Sweet and wife Paula, Travis Sweet, Noah Ciaramitaro, Isabella Hobbs, and Taylor Sweet; and by her great-grandchildren: Cassie, Ayden, Zion, Brody, Conor, Ophelia, Cooper, and Maya.
She is further survived by her sister Anne Ryan, and sisters-in-law Mary Lattof and Paula Lattof, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Albert and Dorothy (Newman) Lattof, her favorite uncle Joseph Lattof, her brothers Albert Lattof Jr. and Joseph Lattof, and her nephew Eric Lattof.
