I remember the very first day Marilyn started art class with Sherry Nelson at Medallion Art School. She sat next to me and was incredibly chatty and friendly. She told me all about how she loved to travel and read and her friend with whom she traveled. I was impressed by her energy and love for learning. I knew Marilyn for probably 8 years and I grew to truly love her sassy personality. She had many opinions and had tremendous confidence in her opinions and she also had a sweet side. She was the first one to help another art class member bring her things in from her car when she arrived. She was thoughtful in gifting me two very sweet gifts for my birthday and I was very touched when she gave my youngest daughter (whom she had only met a handful of times) a wedding card and money.
Thinking of Marilyn brings a smile to my face every time. I am grateful I knew her for the short period I did.

Here's my friend at one of our art class birthday celebrations this past summer. I'll always remember her as the spunkiest 84 yr old I've ever known!

Marilyn joined my art class 10 years ago. Over the years she grew to become quite an accomplished painter. I and all of her artist friends are heartbroken. She has left a hole in our hearts.

Marilyn was my friend. We met in painting class several years ago and shared a love of Art. Marilyn was feisty, fun, and had a wicked sense of humor.
I will miss your hugs and laugh.
Much love from your "Sweet Girl"

Marilyn has always been very dear to my heart, as well as, my husband and her grandchildren. Marilyn was like a mother to me. I often confided in her on many of life's obstacles and she always managed to end our conversations upbeat and I knew she was always there for me and my family. I particularly love how Marilyn fought to no end to make sure to keep a constant connection with my family living so far away. Marilyn was stubborn and I have to say made me laugh so much when she herself would comments about her stubbornness! Rest in peace Marilyn, your memory will live on with all the lives you touched.

Marilyn was part of a group I have participated in for a number of years and she was always so kind and helpful to me. Her advice and words of wisdom made such a difference in my journey and I will treasure those memories. May she rest in peace and light perpetual shine on her

Marilyn was one of my Tai Chi mentors and she made sure I learned correctly. She will be missed by our practice group that met a couple of times a week and at our potlucks. I always made deviled eggs just for her, which she demanded I make. Marilyn was a wonderful hostess, had a great sense of humor, and very firm opinions. Sending condolences to her family as they adjust to their tremendous loss.

Tom and I met Marilyn several years ago when we were all students starting tai chi classes. We shared many laughs and frustrations of learning together. She became and remained a dear and trusted friend. She could laugh at herself, at situations, enjoy lunches and holiday gatherings, hop in the car for a drive and stop at a new restaurant and enjoyed it all from the fine dining to the greasy hamburger with an open heart and willing spirit.

I first met Marilyn when she joined the Tai Chi class at the Y. She had a wonderful sense of humor and became a fun companion for lunch, Art Walks and loved taking care of my sweet cat- Mrs. Squeaks - when I traveled to faraway places. I will miss her and send condolences to Jean and her entire family.

I first met Marilyn when she joined our Tai Chi group at the Y. She really loved learning this gentle form of meditative exercise. I enjoyed getting to know her and discovering the many things we had in common.
We often enjoyed meeting for lunch and even had a wonderful "HighTea" at a local spot. I was fortunate to find that she and Jean enjoyed taking care of my sweet cat- Mrs. Squeaks - when I took off on several trips.
We enjoyed several Art Walks in Vancouver and she came to a show I was in at a local cafe, Marilyn was interested in learning to sketch and progressed on to taking lessons in oil painting and pastels.
I had been texting her around Christmas, hoping to meet for lunch soon at one of our favorite places. She was a fun lady and I will miss her greatly.

Her amazing personality and her words of wisdom. "This too shall pass" was her motto and it became mine upon hearing it. My grandmother was and will always be one of the smartest people I´ve ever known and one of my favorite people. She was an incredibly talented artist and I will miss her for the rest of my life.

I very much enjoyed my annual talks with Marilyn about the political world as we worked towards completing their tax returns, she was always very spirited.
