Marilyn Rose (Bland) Wallar was born to Gail A and Laura Etta (Wright) Bland on January 23, 1948 at Benedictine Hospital in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the age of 76. Marilyn lived in Crescent, OK until she was 11 years old when her family moved to LeJean Drive in Midwest City, where she attended Choctaw Public Schools. Marilyn was a social butterfly; her dad called her a Gadabout. She made many lifelong friends who lived in her new neighborhood. When she was 13 she met the love of her life when he and his family moved into the house across the street. They were married on June 9, 1965 and went on to have 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. She was active with her Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Nicoma Park until 2 years ago, when her health declined. Marilyn was a hard worker, in the 1980's she delivered flowers and then owned her own flower shop, then she cleaned houses. Her favorite job was owning and operating her own tour business throughout the 1990's, Gadabout Tours. She retired from the State of Oklahoma Insurance Board in 2011, where she had worked as a customer service representative for 10 years. Marilyn loved to travel, her favorite places were Branson and Roaring River in Cassville, Missouri. She was 4 years old the first time her dad took the family to Roaring River. She continued to enjoy summers there with family (past & present) for more than 70 years. It was her wish for this lifelong tradition to carry on.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gail and Laura Etta Bland, her sister Peggy Campbell, her husband Raymond Leroy Wallar, her daughter Karen Goforth, and grandson David Wallar.
Marilyn is survived by her 3 sons Dewayne Wallar, Jeffery Wallar and wife Shelia, David Wallar and wife Michelle, 2 daughters Rhonda Bennett and husband James and Laura Rose. Grandchildren Jeremy Goforth, Kimberly Totherow and husband Justin, Brittany Butcher, Eric Self, Kayla Massey, Brandi Massey, Bryce Wallar and wife Shelby, Zachary Wallar and wife Laura, Cody Wallar and wife Victoria, Trevor Wallar, Esme Wallar, Lauren Vaughn and husband Nathan, Tyler Malik, and Tessa Wallar. Great Grandchildren Khloe and Cole Kinnaman, Drake and London Butcher, Kyla and Eric Self, Cash and Major Southerland, Legend Paine, Carter and Brayleigh Massey, Henry Wallar, Brayden, Elijah, Malachi and Levi Vaughn, Due to arrive January 28, 2025, Harlow Wallar. And many other family members and close friends.
