Marilyn Winterfield, age 86, passed away surrounded by love on March 1, 2022.
Marilyn (also lovingly known as Mimi by her children and grandchildren) was born on May 1, 1935, to Marvin and Katherine Weinberg in Detroit, Michigan. She had four children that she loved more than life itself. To her core, Marilyn was an educator, spending much of her career as an elementary teacher, and later a principal. She enjoyed traveling and had a group of friends with whom she travelled the world. Marilyn also enjoyed playing golf and tennis, but it was mostly for the camaraderie. If you met Marilyn, you knew she delighted in the extraordinary, loved laughing, and was kind, witty, loyal, smart, persistent, funny, mischievous, self-effacing, and generous. She had a soft spot for the underdog (of which she considered herself one) and held an unwavering belief in everyone's ability to overcome great obstacles with a gentle nudge. And she treasured the opportunity to plant seeds of belief in people and provide that gentle nudge (anonymously if possible), whenever and however she could.
Marilyn's spirit is carried on by her four children Jeffrey (wife Susan, children Heather, Ashley, Sarah, and Hannah), Mike (wife Jill, children Brian and Allie), Joy (husband Tom Kostoglanis, children Sydney, Michael, and Julia), and Jill (husband Matt Woods, children Molly, Abby, and Reilly); sister Karen Clark (husband James, children Steve and Brad); and an extended family of relations and friends too numerous to list, but not forgotten. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Marvin and Katherine Weinberg.
Friends (and strangers she would love to have met) can visit with Marilyn's family at the Lee Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank, Macomb, MI 48044 on Saturday, March 5, from 1 until 5 PM. Dress casual and bring as many stories about Marilyn as you care to share.
In Marilyn's memory, donations may be made to any charity that benefits children or animals.
Marilyn would want her beloved friends and family to know how precious they were to her. Knowing and loving each one of them was the success story of her life.

Mrs. Winterfield was also my Elementary school principal at wonder Washington Elm. I remember all the time I spent there watching my parents help with all sorts of activity's and Mrs. Winterfield was always right there bringing such joy to those around her. We were lucky to have her and she will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family.
