Marilynn Hammond (née Smith), 68, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, November 24, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born on June 9, 1957, in Lorain, OH, Marilynn was a lifelong resident of Vermilion. She graduated from Vermilion High School and spent her career working for several area companies, including York International in Elyria and Bearing Technology in Avon.
Marilynn cherished time with her grandchildren and especially loved days spent at the beach. Her warm heart, easy laugh, and gentle presence will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Lauren Hess) Hammond of New London; her beloved grandchildren, Emma and Baylie Hammond, and Savanna and Austin Hess; her sister, Brenda Gardinier of Vermilion; her brother, Rick Smith (Joan Burke) of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Joyce (née Coleman) Smith.
A celebration of Marilynn’s life will be held at a later date.
