Marilyn was my aunt through my mother, Joan Foster Santas. She made a great effort to stay connected to our side of the family, faithfully sending letters on every birthday. She and Jack came out to California for my wedding to Nancy Bialek in 1995, and also for my mother's memorial service in 1989. She was sweet and funny, and even though I only got to see her a handful of times during her life, I have very warm and fond memories.

Marilynn was my Aunt, my mother's youngest sister, and I will always be grateful to her for keeping me in touch with my mother's family. She was an attentive, affectionate Aunt with a great sense of humor whose regular letters were full of funny family stories (and astute observations about aging!) She remembered every single holiday and birthday for years, sending cards and photos of my cousins and their many children. She was there when my mother passed away, which was a comfort to me. Much later, she and Uncle Jack hosted me at their retirement community in Peoria when I was in Chicago for a professional conference, and they pulled out all the old photos of my parents with them at Knox College. I have such good memories of our brief time together. I was always impressed with Marilynn's resourceful good cheer, sociability, steady support and wonderful sense of humor. She was much loved and will be missed.
