Marina (Chronopoulos) Tamburi died on January 13, 2026. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska. After arriving to Massachusetts , Marina’s first job was with the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union on Boylston Street in Boston, which provided vital assistance to women and children via economic, housing and job placement services, as well as training and employment assistance to the disabled.
Marina also worked as a Switchboard Operator for the Telephone Company using the old plug-in cables and board.
Marina was later employed at The Christopher Publishing House in North Quincy, MA until the business closed back in 1977. Marina then went on to work at The Patriot Ledger newspaper for 24 years, as the Switchboard Operator and Front Desk Receptionist, until her retirement in 2003. It was a job she truly enjoyed and cherished, along with the wonderful people she had the pleasure of meeting and working with.
Marina was married to the late Vassil “Bill” Tamburi for 39 years. She is survived by her daughter Evangelia Tamburi of Quincy, MA and her son John Tamburi of Marrietta, GA and her cherished grandson Alexandros Tamburi. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 10- 11am in St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marina may be made to a charity of your choice.
