Mario Consoli, 95, of
Methuen, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Holy Family Hospital. He was the beloved son of the late Sebastiano and Lucia (Rapisarda) Consoli.
Born in Linera, (Catania), Sicily, Italy, Mario immigrated to the United States in 1950 in search of new opportunities and a better life. He dedicated 43 years of hard work to Grieco Bros. in
Lawrence, MA, where he was employed as a finish presser. During his career, he also served as president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers' Union Local 187. Mario was deeply passionate about justice and workers' rights, values he proudly passed on to his daughter Linda. Known for his strong work ethic, he believed in the dignity of hard work and standing up for others.
Mario was always willing to lend a helping hand. He played an important role in helping establish his daughter Lisa's restaurant and his son David's landscaping business, never hesitating to roll up his sleeves to support his family.
Outside of work, Mario enjoyed gardening and was a devoted fan of the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots. His family will especially miss the cherished tradition of his afternoon espresso time.
Mario is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Isabella (Maccarone) Consoli. He also leaves behind his loving children: Linda Consoli and her partner Mitch Rodil of Haverhill, MA; Lisa (Consoli) Maroun and her husband Elie Maroun of
Methuen, MA; and David Consoli and his wife Karen (Chiara) Consoli of
Methuen, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Loiacono of San Jose, CA.
He was a proud and loving "Nonno" to seven grandchildren: Daniella Domingo and her partner James Medaglia; Anthony Domingo; Andrea (Maroun) Elia and her husband Steven Elia; Alexander Maroun and his wife Brianna Maroun; Amanda Maroun; Michael Consoli and his partner Madison Renken; and Joseph Consoli. He also leaves behind five cherished great-grandchildren: Nora, Celine, Rosie, Theodore, and Oliver, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mario was predeceased by his siblings Salvatore, Giuseppe, Alfio, Sebastiano, and Antonia.
Mario will be remembered for his dedication to family, his tireless work ethic, and his unwavering belief in fairness and helping others. His legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on through all who knew him.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street,
Methuen, MA. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen, with burial to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
