Today we gather to celebrate the life of a kindhearted man, Mario Gonzalez, a devoted son, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, and spouse.
Mario was born on October 28, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, and went to be with the Lord on
November 6, 2025.
Mario was known for his strength, his simplicity, and his generous heart. He found joy in the little things in life. He was a proud alumnus of John F. Kennedy High School, where he participated in JROTC and rose to the rank of Captain of his squad. At just 17 years old, Mario joined the U.S. Army Infantry, where he served with honor. He earned the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the Sharpshooter Medal. Mario was relieved from active duty and received an honorable discharge in 1982.
Mario enjoyed many hobbies, including working on vehicles, barbecuing, drinking his Budweiser, and spending time with his grandchildren. He truly enjoyed living life to the fullest.
Mario is survived by his spouse, Alice Miranda; his children Jacob Gonzalez, Ivan Miranda, and Ivy Miranda-Daywood; and his grandchildren Isaiah Daywood, Sabastian Daywood, Jacklyn, and Ivan Waya Hades Miranda. He is also survived by his sisters Irene Iruegas and Matilda Gonzales; his brother Miguel Medina; his nieces Crystal Martinez and Candy Iruegas; and his nephews Jesse Sabedra and Miguel Medina.
Mario is preceded in death by his mother, Maria, and his brothers Jesse Sabedra and Clemente; and his nephew José.
Mario will be remembered as a hardworking family man whose kindness and love touched everyone who knew him.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
