Mario Martinez Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mario Jose Martinez on September 1, 2021 at home with the love of his family surrounding him.
Mario was born on February 11, 1949 in Managua, Nicaragua to Miguel Martinez and Elia Maria Ayerdis. He graduated from Miguel Ramirez Goyena National Institute in 1968 then immigrated to New York City the same year. He spent 30 years of his professional career as a train operator for the MTA.
Mario's unfaltering Catholic faith and great love of God was a true testament witnessed by all who met him.
Mario will forever be remembered by his wife of 26 years, Vilma; daughter, Elia; siblings Ileana, Gloria, and Alejandro, and numerous other family members and friends.
Viewing will be held at Riverdale Funeral Home, 5044 Broadway, New York, NY 10034 on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 5PM - 8PM.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Saint Elizabeth's Church, 268 Wadsworth Ave, NY NY 10033 at 10am.
Interment at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Cemetery, Florida
