Marion Ruth Beckenstein

Marion Ruth (Larsen) Beckenstein was 89 years of age and was living in New Haven, CT and lived most of her married life in Guilford, CT formerly from New London, CT and East Boston, MA.  She was the widow of Fred Beckenstein.

Marion was born in Boston on July 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Lambert M. and  Ollianna C. (Johnson) Larsen.  Marion grew up in New London where she attended Saltonstall Elementary School and New London High School where she received National Honor’s Society.  She graduated from Mass General Hospital in Nursing and received her Master’s Degree from Columbia Teacher’s College in Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She had many interests including art, music, traveling, plays, operas and musicals on Broadway and the Good Speed Opera House.  She touched the hearts of many and will be very missed.

She is survived by her son, Michael Beck and his wife, Gail Beck of Essex, Vermont and daughter, Michele Acton and her fiance, Jonathan Howey of Madison, CT and her sister, Anne Bossi of Bristol, CT and her grandchildren, Brendan Acton, Brianna Acton, Morgan Kay, and Skylar Spitzer.

A graveside service will be held at noon at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bristol, CT. Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West Street, Bristol, CT will be in charge of the arrangements.
