Marion Bradford Obituary Our beloved mother, Marion (Jones) Bradford, age 89, of Wilmington, MA, died after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer at Windsor Place of Wilmington, MA, a devastating loss of a truly special and key family member.
Marion was born in Liverpool, England on April 29, 1936, to Robert and Grace (Williams) Jones of Liverpool, England, surviving World War II and the bombing of Britain. Marion later married the love of her life, an American serviceman, Milton L. Bradford, Jr., of Maine in Liverpool, England in 1955 and moved to the United States with him while expecting their first child. Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, her brother & sister and beloved sisters & brothers in law.
Marion is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Daniell and her husband Dana of Marlborough, MA; Dawn Wallis of Vero Beach, FL; and Jennifer Howard and her husband Leonard of Amherst, NH. She also leaves behind her three granddaughters Megan and Hannah Howard of Amherst, NH and Ashley Virtus of Vero Beach, FL, and four great grandchildren.
Despite living in the U.S. for 70 years, Marion described herself as "British to the Core" and had amazing strength and determination. She displayed many kindnesses to family, friends and animals. She was a talented crafter; her passions included exceptional crewel embroidery work, which she gifted to family and friends, knitting baby outfits and blankets for donation, and flower arranging, which decorated her apartment at Windsor Place.
Per Marion's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral. Her ashes will be combined with her husband's, and they will be interred at Readfield Corner Cemetery, Readfield, ME, for their eternal rest among the Bradford family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Windsor Place, 92 West St., Wilmington, MA 01887, or to Compassus Hospice, 790 Turnpike St #202, North Andover, MA 01845 or to Immaculate Home Care, 800 W Cummings Park #1400, Woburn, MA 10801.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington, MA. To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit our website at www.nicholsfuneralhome.com
