Marion Butsavage Obituary

Marion Rose Butsavage, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones on February 23, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was born on July 28, 1949 to William Rose and Lois Rose.

Marion is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Peter. They married in 1980.

Marion was a Certified Diabetes Educator and the head of the Diabetes Treatment Center at Virginia Beach General Hospital where both she and her husband devoted over a cumulative of 60 years of service. In her free time after retirement she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and shag dancing.

Marion was a proud and devoted mother to children Daniel and Sara and doting grandmother to Lucas and Emmie. Marion was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind many beautiful memories. She was generous and caring, and being with her family was what Marion enjoyed most of all.

She is also survived by her brother, William Rose and his wife, Mary Jo, of Cleveland, OH, two nieces, Allison Clardy (Rose), Brittany Appling (Rose), nephew, Corey Rose, and son-in-law, Eric Dutt.

My deepest heartfelt condolence. I fondly recall Camelot. Quiet walks on the oval, a stroll around Mirror Lake, football games at the Shoe, looking for the green haze through a kitchen window, lazy afternoons at the lake. A gentle touch, soft smile , and a warm heart. A beautiful lady who will be missed.

I worked with Marion at Virginia Beach General. She was a kind, gracious lady. She opened her home when I planned a surprise party for my husband, Larry. She made a difference. She will be missed. Lynne Bradham

Condolences to the family. Marion was such a beautiful person and had a wonderful gift. She was born to be an educator. Such a bright mind. I had the pleasure of working with her at VBGH and was able to convince my husband to consult with her about his issues (which were many} with his diabetes. She was able to break it down to him enough to get things under control and always asked about his health when we would meet in the hospital. She was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
Godspeed Marion!

It was a privilege to know and work with Marion. We worked together for many years at Virginia Beach General Hospital. She and Pete were a wonderful couple and so very proud of their children. I am sorry I was unable to attend the service, but my husband was being discharged from the hospital - so I was needed there. WIth deepest sympathy on your loss, Rita Hughes
