Marion "Chick" passed on November 9, 2025, at 5:55 am at the age of 97. She was living at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, Maryland.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 29, 1928, to Susie Frances Harrell Vail and Phillip Thomas Vail. She was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and Phil. Her husband, Norwood, also predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers and sister, Philip. Arthur, Roy and Yvonne. Chick had/has two stepsisters, Dorothy Coonan, who predeceased her; and Carole Langmead currently residing on the west coast. She is survived by her daughters, Robin and Jill, and their spouses, respectively, Jim and Mark. "Aunt Chick" has many nieces and nephews. She had a strong love of family.

She graduated from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore as a Registered Nurse. She began her career as a traveling nurse, spending several years walking a route near Pimlico Racetrack as a caregiver. After the family moved to Ellicott City Maryland, she returned to nursing at Kernan's Hospital on the children's cancer ward. She then accepted a position at Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she worked in the Ear, Nose and Throat ward for 20 years until she retired.

Chick had many interests. She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School. She worked in their thrift store for close to 20 years. Her interests included playing bridge. One of her passions was playing the piano. She was gifted with the ability to play by ear/without any music sheets.

A viewing will be held at Harry H. Witzke's Family Funeral Home on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at 4112 Old Columbia Pike in Ellicott City, Maryland 21043. A short service will follow at 11:30 am, the burial will be held at Loudon Park Cemetery in Catonsville at 1:00 pm.
