Marion Lucille (Lyons) Nason, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in her home, March 23, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in Belding on April 14, 1928, daughter of Francis Elwin and Elizabeth Caroline (McCormick) Lyons.
A hard-working entrepreneur, Marion was self-employed for most of her career. She worked as an in-home health care professional, caring for the elderly. Later she had her own house-keeping business, “Maid Marion.” And yes, she did windows! She was also community minded, serving for many years as a “Volunteer Grandparent” at Ellis Elementary School.
She was a great cook. Her grandchildren joked that she could hide broccoli in just about every dish to make sure they ate their vegetables. She was also an accomplished artist. She will be greatly missed for her care and love for her family and her good-humored view of the world around her.
On February 28, 2011, Marion married Robert Nason. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2018. Marion was a devoted member of the Green Corners Baptist Church which Robert helped to establish.
She will be honored and remembered by her children, Phyllis and Anthony Salas of California, Ralph and Laura Babcock of Florida, her grandchildren Anthony Jr. and Natalie Salas of California, Nicholas and Jamie Salas of Utah, Michael and Mamie Salas of South Carolina, Kathryn and Drew Pepper of Texas, Steven and Sadie Salas of Utah, Johathan and Eleanor Salas of Utah, Jeremiah Babcock of Oklahoma, and Christin and Travis Haldeman of Kansas, and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28. For additional information, please contact the funeral home at (616) 794-1300.
