Mr. Marion Arthur Phillips

Mr. Marion Arthur Phillips, age 87, of Toccoa, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Born August 27, 1930 in Carnesville, GA, he was a son of the late Rev. Spence Arthur Phillips and Catherine "Katie" Allen Phillips. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was the owner-operator of Economy Superette. Mr. Phillips enjoyed gardening and he loved riding the great-grandchildren around on the golf cart. Family members include daughters and a son-in-law, Dianne King and Tommy Joe of Earles Grove, SC and Wanda McElreath of Demorest, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Phillips and Liz of Seneca, SC; two sisters, Mary Carpenter and Reba Gibby both of Toccoa; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Jo Bruce Phillips. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Sunday, November 5, 2017 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jerry Stowe officiating. Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Andy Childs officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1 pm Sunday, November 5, 2017. The Phillips family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Betty Walker, the Clary Care Center, and to Pruitt Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Mr. Phillips. Flowers are optional.
