Marion Terry, 85, of Courtland, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Bro. Steve Kelso and Bro. Scotty Letson officiating. Burial will be at Bethsadia Baptist Cemetery. Born on May 9, 1939 to the late Odis and Mattie Stoops Terry, Marion graduated from Hazelwood High School in 1958, and married the love of his life in 1962. He was a member of Old Bethel Church and attended New Hope Baptist Church for several years until he became unable to go. Marion worked at 3M, where his time off was spent with his family and coon hunting with his friends, his favorite being Bro. Clyde Goodlet.

When he retired, Marion loved working on his farm with his cattle and German Shepard dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to school, ballgames, and watching them play football. They were his pride and joy. Marion also enjoyed deer hunting, rabbit and coon hunting until he was unable to walk alot. His last days were spent looking forward to meeting his Savior and children gone on before.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Mary Terry; children, Shelia (Kenney) Williams, Delene (Tyron) White, and Randy (Kathy) Terry; grandchildren, Mellissa Ricks, Keshia Brown, Crystal Woodruff, Shane Terry, Blake Holland, Jessica Terry, Zack Clement, and Stetson Terry; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Grimes, Lila Graham, Peggy Talley, and Barbara Brannon; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renita Clement; son, Kurt Terry; grandchildren, Joshua Sivley and, Kolby Clement; and sister, Merle Terry.

Pallbearers will be Shane Terry, Zack Clement, Stetson Terry, Aaron Cross, Scottie Ray, and Jason Parker.

The family extends special thanks to all the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital.
