In Loving Memory of Marjorie Harris Alm (Marge)
Marjorie Harris Alm, lovingly known as Marge, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on January 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on June 24, 1930 in Casper, Wyoming, to parents Ethbert and Irene Harris, she lived a long, beautiful life defined by kindness, patience, and an unwavering generosity of spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ethbert O. and Irene M. (Miller) Harris; husband, Archie J. Alm; and her sister, Elaine York.
After graduating from Natrona County High School in 1948, Marge married her high-school sweetheart, Archie Alm, in October that same year. They were married for 68 years until Archie’s death in 2016. After living in Denver for two years, they moved back to Casper where they raised their family. Because Archie’s work in the oil industry frequently took him away for days or weeks at a time, Marge often shouldered the responsibilities of parenting their two young children on her own. She did so with the same quiet strength and unwavering love that defined her life.
To know Marge was to feel welcomed, supported, and cared for. She had a remarkable ability to give of herself - quietly, consistently, and without ever expecting anything in return. Her gentle presence brought comfort to friends, joy to her many loved ones, and strength to her family. She was the heart of family gatherings, a steady source of encouragement, and a listener who made everyone feel truly heard.
Always game for a day of shopping, Marge relished her many outings with her sister Elaine and those with her sister-in-law Liz. Her door was always open for anyone who wished to stop by for a cup of coffee and a bit of chit-chat or gossip.
Marge was also known for her famous “Chocolate Sheet Cake,” a treat she baked for holidays, celebrations, and any moment when someone needed a little extra comfort. Friends and family often joked that no gathering felt complete until Marge walked in with a pan of her sheet-cake in hand.
She loved her companion cats Tool Time, and especially Cinder, who could always be found curled up on Marge’s lap as she enjoyed her audio books.
For more than 20 years, Marge volunteered at Wyoming Medical Center, offering her time and warmth to patients, families, and staff. Her dedication to service reflected her deep belief in helping others and brought comfort to countless people over the decades.
Above all, Marge cherished her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose love showed in countless everyday moments - her warm meals, kind words, shared laughter, and her enduring patience. Her generosity of heart extended to close friends whom she considered family. Marge treasured her time spent at Alcova Lake, especially weekends with Maddie, Landon, and Alexandra, making each of them feel deeply loved and wonderfully special.
Marge is survived by daughter Karen Alm of Casper; son Ron (Shelly) Alm of Colorado; granddaughter Maddie (Nick) Harris of California; and grandson Landon (Ashley, daughter Addy Nikolenko) Alm of Colorado. Marge had a special relationship with her niece Valerie (Scott) Jamison of North Carolina, and their daughter Alexandra Jamison of Colorado, who lovingly knew her as ‘Nana Marge.’ She is also survived by her close family friend Noreen McHugh, who held a special place in her life. Marge is further survived by her many nieces, nephews, and their families.
She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the many people whose lives she touched with her generosity and kindness. Marge’s legacy is one of love - quiet, steady, and enduring. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 12:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marge’s name can be made to the Casper Humane Society, 849 East E Street, Casper, WY 82601; to the Macular Degeneration Association, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100, Sarasota FL 34232; or to a charity of your choice.
