Marjorie Blake Obituary

Marjorie Rex Blake, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend - and forever our dancing queen - passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Even struggling with the ravages of Parkinson's Disease, she lived her life with joy, grace, and a rhythm all her own.
Family was at the heart of everything Marjorie did. She never missed a chance to bring everyone together - for holidays, dinners, or simply to share a story, a laugh, or a hug. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel special and welcome, whether they were family, neighbor, or friend.
And then there was her dancing. Marjorie didn't just dance - she lit up the dance floor. Music spoke to her soul, and when a song started playing, you could always count on her to be the first to get up and move. "Dancing Queen" was her anthem, and she embodied every word - graceful, joyful, and full of life. She taught us that happiness is meant to be shared, and that sometimes, the best medicine is simply a good song and a little room to dance.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Dana Moser (Ron), Lisa Ream (Randy), and John B. Blake IV (Amielle); her grandchildren, Joshua Goode, Sara Sparks, Tara Blake, and Katie Blake; her great-grandchildren, Marshall Sparks, Taylor Goode, Tyler Sparks, and Nicholas Goode; and her siblings, Dixie Pavey (Glen), Peggy Mayfield, and Terry Williams (Sally). She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Blake III, and her parents, Homer and Russell Williams.
Marjorie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Expressway Church of Christ.
A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). The family invites everyone to honor her memory in the way she would have loved best - with stories, smiles, and maybe even a dance or two.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 12:00 pm CST/ 1:00 pm EST at French-Logan Cemetery (145 Gaines Hill Cemetery Road Burkesville, KY 42717).
The family requests that contributions in Marjorie's memory be made to Dana Moser for the French-Logan Cemetery Fund.
