Marjorie Brown Obituary

WILLINGTON

Marjorie Sickles Brown passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 95. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a pillar of faith and dedication in her community.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Lynn R. Brown, her four children, David (Jodie) Brown, Barbara (John) Geske, Lynda (Craig) Lee and Anne (Chris) Good, eight grandchildren, Stephen (Julie) Brown, Michael Geske, Matthew (Erin) Geske, Megan Geske, Emma Lee, Adam Lee, Hannah Good and Juliette Good and five great- grandchildren Margaret and Calvin Brown, William Geske, and James and Leah Geske. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Anton, brother, Sidney (Sharon) Sickles and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and John Sickles, brother, John Hugh Sickles, sister-in-law, Mary Sickles and brother-in-law, Larry Anton.

Born on November 10, 1930, in Waterloo, Iowa, Marjorie was raised on her parents farm in Janesville, Iowa. She was valedictorian in her class at Janesville High School and was active in 4-H and the church. Marjorie attended Iowa State University and graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics and a M.S. in Family Finance. She enjoyed working as an extension educator, taught high school home economics, and worked as a town assessor.

Marjorie was deeply involved in community and community service. She was known for her kindness and generosity. Marjorie led 4-H clubs and enjoyed teaching children to bake, sew, refinish furniture, and try many crafts. She was also honored by the National 4-H Hall of Fame.

Marjorie was part of the Storrs Congregational Church family. She sang soprano in the in the choir, played in the bell choir, and participated in the quilting group. She sewed blankets for newborns, knitted prayer shawls, and put together bags and care packages for the those in need. Marjorie was also an active member of PEO, a philanthropic educational organization for women.

Marjorie's legacy of love, family, faith and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home. The funeral Services will be Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Storrs Congregational Church at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Storrs Congregational Church.
