Our beloved mother, Marjorie M. Green, peacefully passed from mortality into eternity at her home in Burley surrounded by family on October 12, 2025, just shy of her 93rd birthday.

She was born on November 1, 1932, to John Wallace McFarland and Theresa Pauline Caron on the McFarland farm in Heman, Idaho. She was the second child and only daughter in a family of four brothers. She attended a small two-room schoolhouse for grades one to four. In 1942, shortly after the outbreak of World War II, the family moved to Sugar City. In 1946, her father died suddenly leaving her mother to raise four young children alone. Marjorie graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1950 and attended Ricks College in Rexburg for a short time. She then worked as a bookkeeper for about a year then attended BYU for two quarters. She met Verl Green on a blind date on New Years Eve, 1952 and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 10, 1953. They moved to a small farm purchased from Verl's father located about 4 miles west of Burley in Minidoka County, Idaho. Five children blessed their home. In November, 1963, the family moved to Burley to the home she and Verl lived in for the rest of their lives.

Marjorie finished her education first by taking correspondence courses from BYU and then commuting to ISU in Pocatello, where she graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in elementary education and continued with graduate work. In 1962, she began her teaching career in Burley, which lasted until her retirement in 1990. She held a variety of positions in her ward and stake, including being the Gospel Doctrine teacher for 25 years.

Marjorie had numerous interests and excelled at many things. She was an expert quilter and created many beautiful pieces. She also joyfully engaged in gardening every year until this past summer, harvesting and canning from July to October. Additionally, she was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her bread, fudge, and caramels, as well as her famous apple pies. Each year she harvested apples from her heirloom tree and froze upwards of 60 pies which she shared with friends and family during the year. She was a formidable Scrabble player and skilled at crossword puzzles. She also read copiously - she could finish a 600-page book in two to three days. She loved the satisfaction of a good day's work and modeled excellence in all she attempted. Her quick wit and sense of humor kept laughter and fun in all our lives and her generosity blessed many. But most of all, her devotion and deep gratitude to the Savior was a hallmark of her life.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Verl; her parents; her brothers, George, Von, Paul and Blair McFarland; and her son, Daniel. Surviving are her children, Sharon Fila, Bountiful, Utah, (Edward); Jo Engstrom, Washington, Utah, (Kevin); Marvin Green, Tempe, Arizona; and Nancy Anderson of Burley (Robert). Additional survivors include 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Burley 3rd Ward Chapel, 2200 Oakley Avenue. Viewing for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Services will conclude with burial at the Gem Memorial Gardens under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
