Marjorie Janzen Obituary

MARJORIE ELIZABETH JANZEN Marjorie Elizabeth (Franzen) Janzen, 101, of North Newton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton. She was born on April 27, 1924, in rural Goessel, Kansas, to John J. and Kornelia (Klassen) Franzen. She was united in marriage to Calvin Glen Janzen on July 20, 1946. He passed away on November 19, 2004. Marjorie worked in the Newton School District as a reading specialist and teacher. She was one of the first reading specialists in the area. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Newton. Marjorie is survived by her children, Barbara (Mark) Meinhardt of Phoenix, AZ, Beverly Dillon of Bullard, TX, and Craig (Jan) Janzen of Haysville; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Rodney Janzen; brothers, Eugene and Melvin Franzen; and son-in-law, Martin Dillon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at First Mennonite Church, Newton. Private burial will be held at Alexanderwohl Church Cemetery, rural Goessel. Family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, November 23, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or First Mennonite Church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.
