Marjorie Jean John passed away February 20, 2025 at Wesley Village Healthcare, Macomb, Il. She was born December 14, 1937 in Macomb, Il to William "Jake" and Edna (Roth) Mason.
She married H. Eugene John on June 19, 1955. She is survived by her daughter, Terri (James) Burnham of Macomb, Il, daughter-in-law, Lori John of Industry, Il and son-in-law Troy Aten of Colchester, Il; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Sydney) John, of Macomb, Il, Hayley (Michael) Dobson, of Seaford De, Hunter (Raven) Aten of Oahu, Hawaii, Brittany Aten of Macomb, Il, Jessica Aten of Southgate, Ky, Ashley (Craig) Griffitts of Bushnell, Il, Heather Buysse of Dumfries, Va and Natalie(Todd) Newell of Orlando, Fl and 17 great children and a sister-in-law Lucinda John of Macomb, Il.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, William and Edna Mason, a son Gregory John; a daughter Julia Aten; and three brothers, Ronald Mason, Robert Mason and Randall Mason.
She was a homemaker, a secretary at Wilson School in Macomb, she was also co-owner along with her husband Gene of Macomb Skateland. Marge and Gene were fortunate to have watched generations of Macomb area children walk through the doors of the rink, from 1969 until the close of the rink in 2008. Marge and Gene spent years in the harness horse racing business, where they traveled the state of Illinois developing many friendships and enjoyed success in their business. Marge also helped once a week at St. Paul School in her daughter, Terri's 4th grade class, and was called, "grandma" by many. Marge was generous in her time and also never turned down a request to attend to her grandchildren. Her family was everything to her and her devotion was beyond compare. In her last years of life, she lived at Wesley Healthcare and was a favorite of her caregivers because of her sweet and kind spirit. She was a member of St Paul Catholic Church and the Women's Guild of St. Paul.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 1, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Marc Nkulu will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM, also at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul School, Wesley Healthcare Center or MDH Hospice. Cremation will be accorded after the Mass. Burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
