Marjorie Lee Lambert

Marjorie Lee Mason Lambert, widow of the late Marvin Gayle Lambert, passed away on January 10, 2026.

Marjorie was born in Newport News, the only child of the late Norris Wesley and Edna Lee Hazelwood Mason and has been a local resident her entire life. Marjorie is also the granddaughter of the late Levin P. and Laura W. Mason of Fox Hill and Newport News, and William R. and Lula F. Hazelwood of James City and Newport News.

Marjorie attended Hilton Elementary and graduated from Morrison High School (now Warwick) and attended Madison College (now James Madison University) for 2 years. Marjorie was employed in the tobacco business for 32 years. First she was employed by Hiden Storage and Forwarding Co. Inc. as a clerk/typist and later a Billing and Traffic clerk. Upon their liquidation, she was employed by JP Taylor Co. Inc. (a division of Universal Tobacco Co. Inc. of Richmond Va.) as an administration Traffic and Billing Clerk. Upon their relocation to Wilson N.C, Marjorie took an early retirement.

Marjorie was married in Orcutt Baptist Church. Her mother and her were baptized the same Sunday, a first for the church. In later years Marjorie was a long time church member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was also a former member of Madison College (now James Madison University ) Alumni Association.

Marjorie's hobbies were traveling with her late husband and working in her garden. Her former home in the Huntington Heights section of Newport News was featured in the Daily Press Parade and Better Homes and Garden.

Marjorie is survived by several cousins, John B. Blanche, Ill and Robert W. Mason of Newport News, Shirley E. Benson of Smithfield, and her great -Nephew William E Good (Kathi) of Newport News.

A private service will be conducted in Peninsula Memorial Park on Thursday, January 15 at 11 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie's name to the Peninsula Rescue Mission, Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula or the S.P.C.A.
