Mark Alan Anderson

Mark Alan Anderson left this world on February 28, 2026. He was 65 years old. He was born July 13, 1960, in Rapid City, S.D. to Lloyd and Theola Anderson. He attended Rapid City schools, graduating from Stevens High School in 1978. Mark successfully completed technical school in Denver, Colo. and began his long career as a heavy equipment and crusher mechanic. Mark married Leslie Deering in 1981. To this union his sons, Ryan and Taylor Anderson, were born in Spearfish, S.D. He loved his sons so much. Mark also loved fast cars, fishing, canasta with his family (especially when he won) and a good cribbage game.
Mark spent his summers while in school with his dad, Lloyd, on Summit Construction Road projects in South Dakota and Wyoming. He learned the importance of hard work and that a mechanic is the first man on the job in the morning and the last to leave at night. Mark took special pride in being a part of the Homestake Open Cut surface crew.
Mark is survived by his sons, Ryan Anderson and his wife, Sarah, along with their three children, Karrington, Beckett, and Halle of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Taylor Anderson and his significant other, Kristi Zebroski along with his two sons, Owen and Nolan and her daughters, Kaya and Niya of Gillette, Wyo.; his former wife, Leslie Deering of Rapid City, S.D.; his sister, Jane Gustafson and her husband, Dean of Aurora, Colo.; his nephew, Trevor Gustafson and his wife, Kristen of Springboro, Ohio; his niece, Joni Tucker, and her husband, Kurt of Fort Collins, Colo.; nephew, Scot Homstad and his wife, Lena of Aurora, Colo.; sister-in-law, Ellen Quinn, her husband, Bob; nephew, Scott Anderson of Salem, Ore.
