Mark and I met at KU when we were juniors and immediately became good friends Mark was a groomsman in our wedding when Karin and I married in 1974. Mark and I never lost track of one another over the years. Peggy will remember trips to San Antonio to see us and I remember fondly trips to Kansas City to see them. Our times at Arthur Bryant's were a lot of fun! Mark was smart and a fine scholar of criminal justice. One time in San Antonio he lectured to my sociology class, and they loved him! Our Saturday morning telephone calls led to conversations over an hour on matters mostly political. Needless to say, we shared the same political views.
Mark, I miss you, buddy.

Mark was one of my first students when I started teaching at KU in the early 70s. He had a sharp intellect, a fine sense of humor, and was a wonderful conversationalist - we kept in touch through the years and met for dinner in KC 4 or 5 times a year, during we discussed animatedly his latest travels with Peggy, inspiring books he recently read, and the state of the political world. I miss those gatherings, the fellowship we had, and shared laughs. He was a kind and generous soul- RIP Mark - miss you buddy!

I just learned of Mark's passing. In 1986, as a business major, I took a Criminal Justice course with him, and he was so engaging that I ended up taking a senior-level course with him, and considered changing my major. I honestly don't remember many of my teachers, but he was one that always stood out to me.

Peace to his family and friends.

Peggy,

We are so sorry about Mark's passing. We know you will miss him greatly. He was a man of the world and his travel bug bit us. He respected all peoples and cultures. That is so admirable.

You both were wonderful neighbors. We miss you.

Thoughts and prayers,
Brad and Sharon

Peggy, I am profoundly sad at the passing of Mark. I counted him as a dear friend over these past 40 years. He truly cared about you, his family and friends. He made such a wonderful impact on the world, as an academic and as a citizen. May his memory be for a blessing.
