Age 53, of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2023, of an apparent sudden cardiac arrest. Loving father of Maggie and Katie Butcher; beloved son of Edward A. Butcher (Barbara) and the late Margaret "Peggy" Stewart; brother of Michael Butcher; nephew of Cynthia Planinsek; and uncle of Molly Morgan. Mark is also survived by the mother of his children, Marie Morgan; brother-in-law, Michael Morgan; and many cousins and other loving family members and friends.
Mark was a proud father of his girls, and they were the loves of his life. He was known affectionately as “The Mayor” as he always knew someone wherever he went and always stopped to shake their hand and see how they were doing. Mark enjoyed hosting cookouts, playing cornhole, gardening, and tending to his sunflowers. He recently took up making birdhouses. Mark was an avid sports fan, especially hockey, and rooted for the Penguins and Steelers.
Mark was a long-time employee of Atlas Wholesale Supply in Carnegie, and was formally trained in the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning. He was also skilled at doing various home repairs and projects.

Maggie and Katie, I never got to meet you two, but I grew up in Chatham Village and was a friend of your dad. We lived a couple of doors down from them. Mark was always a gentle soul and the nicest guy. I was so sorry to hear of his passing- I haven´t seen him since the reunion many years ago but it was so nice to be able to catch up with him then. I hope that being surrounded by family and friends during this difficult time brings you comfort and the loving memory of your sweet dad brings you peace.

Mark was like a cousin to me. His mom and mine were best friends ! We grew up together. We laughed so much. We were camp counselors together. So many great memories together. Loved hanging with his girls and Marie ( and Peggy ) in Cape May. Mark will be missed by so many. His gentle soul was always a comfort.

Some of my most hilarious memories include Mark and the rest of the gang I used to love to hang with. I thank Mark and all of our friends for some wonderful memories that I still cherish! Blessings to Maggie, Katie and Marie-and to all who is feeling this loss. There are many. Much love. Amy Pollock Randal
