Mark J. Carney Sr., 61, of Vernon, formerly of Broad Brook, loving husband of over 30 years and best friend of Gloria J, Carney, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, July 11, 2025, at home. Mark was born on December 21, 1963, in Presque Isle, Maine, a beloved son of the late Madeline Carney.
Mark was raised in Maine by his mother, Madeline and his stepfather, Clarence "Mickey" Neff. It was there that he gained his love for the outdoors and his passion for fishing.
He moved to Connecticut and there he met and married his soul mate, Gloria. Prior to his retirement in 2005, due to his health, Mark had been employed for over 20 years as a Property Manager for several different apartment complexes in the area.
In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by four children, Mark J. Carney II., and his wife Katie of Hudson, NY, Jessica Carney and her partner, Luis Gomez of Vernon and Amanda and her husband Joey Venti also Joshua King and his partner of Vernon. He also leaves his six adored grandchildren, Anthony Morin and his partner, Julie Burgos of Vernon, Alexa Carney of Hudson, NY and Ellie Mae Gomez of Vernon, Jordan and Joseph Venti of east windsor, Isabella King of Vernon and two great-grandchildren, Roman and Lorenzo Morin Other family members include his four uncles, Fred Cloukey of South Windsor, Herbert Cloukey and his wife, Carol of Ashland, ME and Rainey Cloukey of Ashland, ME, HermanCloukey and all their families. He also leaves behind his loving niece Shannon Kinney
Following Mark's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Private burial will take place in Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society at www.cthumane.org. To leave a condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com
