Mark Clark Obituary

Mark Clark
Mark Clark, age 65, of Shorewood, Illinois, passed peacefully at home after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Mark was born on February 16, 1960, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Mary Frances (McGinnis) and Elwin Nail Clark. He was raised, educated, and spent most of his life in Joliet, a community he proudly called home.
Mark lived life loudly and brightly. His confident presence filled every room he entered, and his quick wit and infectious laugh had a way of bringing people together. A natural storyteller and jokester, Mark loved making others laugh and never missed a chance to lighten the moment. Beneath his bold personality was a deeply loyal and hardworking man – someone who showed up for the people he loved without hesitation and gave his whole heart in everything he did.
He is the beloved husband of Peggy M. (Weese) Clark; dearest dad of Ryan Clark, Emily (Dustin) Spray, Bruce Clark (Sarah Hudson), and Ryan (Jackie) Slobodnik; and a proud grandpa to Keira Belle Clark, Lawson and Cayson Spray, Penelope and Myles Slobodnik. He is also remembered as the cherished brother of Cindy Clark-Ericksen, and Tracy (Dave) Clark; fond brother-in-law of Laurie (late Pat) Magee, Carol Blazekovich, Marsha (Daniel) Packley, and Kurt Weese. Favorite Uncle to Megan (Rob) Fair, Emma Ericksen (Josh Dobbins), Karl (Ali) Clark, Ansel (Yeni) Ericksen, Charlotte (Kevin) Kuchan, Jennifer (Rich) Olson, Matthew Vella, Betsy (Bert) Shoudis, Mallory (Nick) Columbus, Megan (Mike) Pullman, Adam (Jennifer) Blazekovich, Bree (Jeremy) Burkett, Ian (Soad) Blazekovich Melissa (Shelby) Henning, Brooke (Paul) Nino, Megan Packley. Mark will be deeply missed by many great nieces, nephews, cousins, his former wife, Robin Mitchell, dear friend Bob Walsh, Godson Jon Schroll, and Goddaughter Portia Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jill Clark; beloved mother-in-law, Shirley Weese; brother-in-law, Pat Magee, dear friends Ronald Sullivan, Jeff Schroll and his loyal dog Major.
Mark was the founder and President of Neptune Pools Inc. (formerly Mark Pools), where Phil Horvath, his mentor, was a huge influence in his success as he took a 19-year-old Mark under his wing. Mark took great pride in his work and truly enjoyed bringing his customers' visions to life through his creativity, dedication, and hard-working hands. His craftsmanship and work ethic were a reflection of the pride he took in everything he did.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road (at Essington Road), Joliet. A service of remembrance will conclude the evening, beginning at 5:00 p.m. In accordance with Mark's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John food pantry, 2650 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL, 60435, in Mark's name will be appreciated.
